Dan Carmichael has been a photographer for over 40 years. Born and raised in Southern California, Dan began taking pictures when given an old Brownie Box film camera as a child. He soon discovered he had a passion for photography and an eye for composition. This grew into a career shooting pictures for three Los Angeles area newspapers.

Dan moved to North Carolina in 1983 to pursue a career in publishing and graphic arts, all the while staying fully active in photography.

Dan has since become recognized as one of North Carolina's most-talented landscape/scenic, fine art photographers. To this he says: "There are many excellent photographers in North Carolina, some I stand in awe of. I am just happy to be counted among them. I am happy to have gained a reputation as an excellent photographer."
